Hahaha I thought it was a woman talking at first.
ya dont use live rock if your going fish only unless your going to use proper lighting and filtration ,,,, the rock can go bad and poison a tank if not looked after ,, there alot of life that can die on the rock ,,, i suggest a good skimmer ,,, hope this helps
well would that depend on what your keeping ? for fish yes you can do this ,,,, but ,, there are some corals , and anemones that are very particular and the algaes are the same ,,, sure you can grow toxia folia and mexicana but ,,, well im sure you get what im saying ,,, ill stick with whats been working for me for decades
@checkavailability175 An ordinary light set definitely will not work with corals.
the only secret from preventing nemo and dory to float dead ,,,,that pet shop and under money sucking companies don’t tell you…… is to regularly do water change that is it,,,,,you don’t have to buy those expensive filters skimmers,,bio balls fancy light and shit,,,i have a tank it runs with ordinary light,,ordinary air pump no dead fish for almost 2 years just do weekly water change half tank
Uhh yeah and about 20 times as thoroughly lol
do you have to clean saltwater aquariums like you do to freshwater?
in mh’s (metal halides) the things right below the light will turn black… this means they are expired and need to be replaced, mh’s need to be replaced about once a year
i know this is probly to late but just build it as a fish only and get some of the realistic fake corals once you have afew of them it really starts to look insane i did it with my old tank my new tank is all real but haha
not really. Fluorescent begin to gradually dim. In aquariums where light is needed for proper plant growth, after about 9 months the fluorescent bulb is only producing about %50 of what it used to. Thus replacing is needed.
dont you just change the bulb after it goes out?
i am abot to start a fish only setup with live rock any advice you can give me. it will be 400ltrs

nice vid
But the conversion of this takes a fair amount of time.
By the time the waste is turned into free nitrogen, it sits for a time as ammonia (NH3). The ammonia in high enough quantities kills the coral and reduces the efficiency of the live rock significantly.
And not all NH3 is turned into free nitrogen. A very good portion of it turns into nitrate, which also kills corals. Why do you think we do water changes? Regardless of how much free nitrogen is created, having dirt on LR is always bad.
Lighting depends on what you want to keep. Just fish won’t require much, 1-3 watts per gallon. Different corals require different lighting. Google what types of fish and corals you’ll want to keep and plan ahead. That is my advice.
I had no idea corals ate food like that XD
I mean, i knew they were alive and compete with eachother, but thats very interesting
iwanna sea horse
what lighting would you recomend for a 55 gallon reef tank?
nice vid. the only think IMO that is wrong is the removing of waste from the live rock, because as it decays bacteria take it from ammonia, to nitrite, to nitrate, and unlike many filter medias live rock also contains the bacteria to convert nitrate to nitrogen gas, which is then released into the air.
Does yr system includes ozonizer? or UV sterilizer?
where can i buy the good DVD ???
lol… yeah can be costly… the instructional marine aquarium on here is real good. I saw a preview on here and worth checking out
Yeah i had my saltwater tank for a month are so and only one of my fish died.
Yeah, I have one… I started off small at first and killed most of the fish in a month lol… Got a real nice setup now that I know more about tanks…
